What is visualization and how does it work?

What is visualization? Visualization is a type of mindfulness practice that allows our brains to visualize a scenario or situation that we want to happen. For example, you want to do well in an interview and get the job. You can visualize yourself confidently going through the interview process, getting the call that you got the job, and what it looks like once you have the job.

 

How can we visualize effectively? The best way to visualize is by feeling the emotions you would feel if the event already happened the way you wanted it to. Would you feel gratitude? Would you feel excited? Would you feel happy? Focus on those emotions and try to keep your mood at that level even past the visualization.

 

How does this work? When we visualize a future event, we are putting our present selves in the frequency of that event. This aligns us with the frequency of our desires and creates the pathway for it to happen. Visualization accesses your creative subconscious, which will create scenarios to get you to that goal. It also programs your brain to notice more opportunities that are aligned with your goals.

 

Many people use this technique for manifestation. Some people call it a mental rehearsal, where they visualize themselves in a movie theater and on the screen is the scenario they want to manifest. They watch themselves on the screen, from what they’re wearing down to their facial expressions. Then they visualize themselves opening a door on the screen and entering it, placing themselves in the movie of their visualization. 

 

Some great ways to support your visualizations is through actual visual reminders, like a vision board. This can create subconscious pathways in your brain to focus on your goals. You can also tie affirmations to your goals and recite them a few times a day. This also helps rewire your brain to attract your goals.

 

Once you have completed your visualization technique, release your desire to the universe, knowing that it has already come true and it will find you in divine timing.

  2. Think about what you want to manifest, think of every detail, every emotion and every thought.
  3. Place yourself in that visualization and allow yourself to feel the emotion if it had already happened.

  5. Recite daily affirmations that help bring you to the frequency of your goals.
  6. Release the desire and trust that the universe will provide your manifestation through divine timing.

What is a passive thought?

We all have more than 6,000 thoughts per day, a majority of them the same as the day before. Why is that? Because we create patterns in our brains that cause us to have the same thoughts that line up with our frequency.

Epigenetics is the study of cellular and physiological traits and how external environments can affect our genes and how our cells are expressed. Dr. Bruce Lipton has studied and taught epigenetics since 1987, conducting numerous experiments on cells and their expression in correlation to their environment.

 

He believes that our cells aren’t necessarily influenced by hereditary genes, but the environment in which the cells are expressed. In our last article we talk about the mind-body connection in relation to disease. In the article, we mentioned Dr. Deepak Chopra’s Radical Well-Being and how he talks about the power of meditation. We’re going to go a little deeper into the importance of meditation and other lifestyle factors that can actually heal yourself.

  1. Sleep: Sleep is the number one thing your body needs. If you’re not getting enough sleep, your body is going through a significant amount of stress. This takes your body out of the parasympathetic nervous system and puts you into fight or flight. Have you ever gotten a poor night of sleep and felt extremely hungry the next day? When you don’t sleep your body produces less leptin and more cortisol. Leptin is the hormone that suppresses your appetite when you’ve had enough to eat and cortisol is your stress hormone. When you’re stressed, your body craves more food and if you don’t have hormones telling you when to stop eating, you may be prone to overeating. This alone can throw your body out of alignment. Cortisol can also mess with your mood, causing more anger. (Hello low vibes!)
  2. Meditation: Meditation brings our bodies into a theta frequency. When you are in a theta state you experience visualization, creativity, insight, peace, and you are connected to the universe. This allows you to decompress, and bring your body back to the sympathetic nervous system. This is where healing can occur. When we heal our bodies, we can experience more positivity, creativity and fun because we’re not reserving energy.
  3. Movement: Moving our bodies allows our lymphatic system to move and cleanse itself. A sluggish lymphatic system leads to lower immunity, fluid retention, and retention of toxins in our bodies. Movement also produces endorphins and other happy hormones that can improve our moods, combatting stress and environmental factors.

There are many things we can do to heal ourselves. The first and obvious ones are sleep, diet, and exercise. Our genes respond to meditation and our thoughts. Before bed and when you wake up in the morning are optimal times to meditate because your body is still in theta, a frequency that is connected to the unconscious mind. This allows you to connect to a higher source and raise your frequency, making you less reactive to the environment around you. And in turn, this decreases the inflammation in your body. Less inflammation = less disease.

And what causes inflammation? What we put into our bodies. Whether that is food, toxins or thoughts.

What Causes This?

Thoughts have a direct impact on our bodies and how we feel. Anger triggers the body’s fight or flight mode, causing a surge of adrenaline to flood the body, taxing the adrenals and moving blood away from your main organs in order to perform physically in a fight or flight event. However, even though you aren’t inherently in any danger, your mind and body still thinks you are. This can cause adrenal fatigue, heart issues, stomach issues, among many other things. How You’ll Find Success Once You Ditch Stress

There’s a notion in our society that in order to be successful, you have to put in an exponential amount of hard work and endure a lot of stress. Many people paint success as a monetary goal achieved, or a status that is gained.

But the truth is, success can mean a lot of things and ultimately it is the opposite of stress. Success can be a well balanced life, surrounded by positive people, places and things. It can mean having peace and kindness in your heart. Success can be defined as loving what you do, even if it doesn’t make you a million dollars or give you the status that you’re looking for. However, when we do find success in this sense, it is almost always rewarded with the extrinsic goals we desire as well.

For example: You quit your corporate job to become a full time writer.
